Tim was away from 7/1-7/5 for a series of gigs. The kids and I missed him a lot - every morning Gabe would wake up and ask where Daddy was, and I'd say he's playing his trumpet and Gabe would say, 'not again!'
It's not typical for Tim to take on so many gigs in a row, having him away for multiple nights. This was just a great, lucrative opportunity too good to pass up. And as anyone married/involved with a musician knows, holiday weekends are great grounds for good gigs. (Think Valentine's Day, New Year's Eve, Memorial Day Weekend, etc...)
So when Tim came home, he wanted to get something special for the kiddos, something that he could enjoy with them. Enter the MEGA PLAY YARD!
Look how small it looks, all wrapped up tight in that blue package. Not very MEGA. (Forgive Gabe's pant-less state, he's decided he doesn't enjoy wearing shorts around the house... we're working on it!)
Now please explain how this fit inside that little blue bag, we havn't been able to get it back in since. The large blue/red piece is filled with balls and each part is attached with velcro tabs.
We have a hard time keeping the balls inside the pit, but we spend a LOT of time inside. I think it gets really hot in there, but the munchkins don't seem to mind a bit.
Gabe is a big fan of the hole cut-outs and mini basketball hoop. He likes to play 'restaurant' and serve us through the holes. Or play 'fair' and sell us tickets to try and throw balls into the holes. Or play 'tea party' and serve us tea and cupcakes through them. He's also called the play yard his 'workshop' in which he 'repairs the stuff.' It's also been 'the boat that goes through the water.' Praise God for imagination!
Another favorite activity is to 'hide' inside the yellow/green piece and jump through the center hole SCREAMING 'surprise!'
All in all, a neat $50 investment. But no toy tops the quality time with family!
They look so happy! How wonderful! And what a great thing to have when it is so hot outside. Good investment!
