Proof

I am always curious when I hear people say they can't believe in God because there is no proof of His existence.  My curiosity stems from the fact that I see proof of Him everywhere - in people, in circumstances, in nature, in relationships, in life.

Here are three instances of proof that God is real and active in our lives, and they all involve Lily (whoever said it was sons who will give you a hard time RE: physical activity never met my daughter):

During quiet time, Lily decided it would be fun to try and stick a penny in the small space between the back of her nightlight and the wall socket.  Had she let go of that penny one millisecond later, the electrical shock that went through the coin would have done serious damage to her - perhaps even stopping her heart (yep, I Googled it, HUGE mistake).  By God's grace, she let go in time and the damage was limited to a burnt out socket, some burn marks on the wall, a broken nightlight and a melted penny.

Lily wanted to help me with something.  I told her she could open the microwave and grab what had just finished cooking (I was in the playroom at the time).  She accidentally pulled the glass microwave tray out and it fell to the floor, shattering into HUNDREDS of pieces.  I ran to the kitchen where I see her standing in the midst of shards of glass - glass was everywhere, spreading all the way across the floor in all directions.  Except for around Lily, who was right next to the microwave, where there was an almost perfect circle of space with not a single piece of glass touching her.

Lily and Gabe were taking some stuffed animals and toys up to their rooms after cleaning up.  Tim and I were chatting in the dining room.  I hear coins clanging down the stairs, a yelp and a series of thumps.  I run to the stairs in time to see Lily come down them - her whole body rigid as she somersaults down - feet over head, head banging on the stairs.  (Horrific way to see your child and I can't get the visual out of my mind.)  So many things could have happened - broken bones, broken neck - and yet Lily was completely, 100% fine.  Not a scratch on her.  The fall startled and scared her (not to mention how it scared her parents) but she was physically unharmed.

If Lily's well-being is not proof of God's presence in our lives, I'm not sure what is.  He is so faithful!
