Lily outgrew her infant car seat, so it was time to switch. We moved her to Gabe's Evenflo Triumph (sorry Lils, you're destined for some hand-me-downs) and bought Gabe an Eddie Bauer one. I debated a lot about which 5-point harness/booster to get Gabe. I thought the more expensive the better. However, I was surprised to read in Consumer Reports that a lot of the expensive models do no better in safety tests, they just offer more bells and whistles - like select fabric, micro-suede, extra cup holders... we even saw one with massage pads! Our $70 model actually performed better in safety tests than some of its $300 counterparts. If you're curious about car seats - there was a great article in last month's Parents magazine. It's an important purchase, and so important for mom and dad (and munchkin!) to feel safe and comfortable with their choice!
