Moby

Like every new parent couple, we registered for a Baby Bjorn when we were pregnant with Gabe. Some very sweet shower attendee spent $70+ for it and I think we used it about twice. Gabe didn't like being in it, it wasn't fun to put on and neither of us found it comfortable. I've heard from friends who have had success with it, but it wasn't a match for our little man.

This time around, I didn't even think about a carrier until I happened to be visiting a little store in Media called Birthmark. Birthmark is run by the amazingly competent Jackie, who is a little bit granola but brilliant when it comes to all things baby. Because Lily was tiny, she suggested the Moby carrier and I've since become obsessed with it. I wear it all the time - in the house and out and about. Lily loves it. It's so comfortable and she rests up very close to me, which I love. We all know I wasn't able to nurse this time around, but you can even use the Moby to nurse hands-free. As Little Mama grows, there are a number of ways to adjust the Moby for her comfort and mine (or Tim's, but let's be honest, it'll probably mostly be me).

Gabey calls it the pocket and loves to instruct me, 'Hey Mama, why not put Lily in the pocket for the store, okay, please, thank you.' That would be a literal quote from my little man.

I will say the Moby is a little tricky to put on until you're comfortable, but it's well worth it! It rings in at around $30 and comes in a rainbow of colors. I'm told it even supports weights up to 35 pounds. But that's about what Gabe weighs and the thought of him being contained in any kind of carrier is HILARIOUS!

Here is a You Tube video that shows the basic wrap position:
